-286-Class 601 Joy Xiao%u3000%u3000Traditionally, the Chinese cleaned their houses at Chinese New Year%u2019s Eve. My family used to clean our house on that day, too. But this year we decided to clean our house a few days before Chinese New Year%u2019s Eve. %u3000%u3000One reason was because my grandfather's house is quite big, and another reason was that my mom and aunts needed to prepare food for the sacrifice ceremony of our ancestors on Chinese New Year's Eve. This would leave fewer people to help Grandpa clean the house, and everyone would be tired.%u3000%u3000We wanted to paint the walls of Grandpa's house, but I couldn't help with that because I'm not tall enough. Instead, my aunt asked me to help her clean the paint that had dripped onto the floor. It was hard work because I had to use a pocket knife to scrape it off, and the paint had become really hard after drying. It took a lot of effort to remove the drops, and then I had to use a towel to mop the floor to make it clean.
