-292-Class 604 Mark%u3000%u3000In science class today we explored different states of matter. The teacher introduced us to different experiments and told us to choose an experiment that we thought could be done on a bigger scale, or would be fun to try. %u3000%u3000I thought that the one with corn starch would be a lot of fun to try %u201cmaxed out%u201d. This experiment is about when you use your hand to hit a solution of corn starch and water very fast, the surface of the solution will be hard, but when you move your hand through it slowly it will feel like a liquid. So it can be a solid and a liquid at the same time. Let me explain:%u3000%u3000When you hit it, the corn starch liquid, fast, the starch%u2019s molecules come together. They push the water molecules away, so they feel like a solid. When you move your hand slow, the starch molecules stay with the water molecules, and then they feel like a liquid. %u3000%u3000I want to try to do this bigger, but it is very dangerous. If you don%u2019t move around when you are standing on the corn starch, you will sink into the thick liquid. Then the more you want to get your feet out the more it will pull you down. Let%u2019s hope that I will succeed. Max-Up-Science
