-273-My Winter VacationClass 404 Alyssa Wu%u3000%u3000During the winter vacation, my family and I went to the Chimei Museum. We saw a special exhibition %u2013 Icons & Identities: Masterpieces of Portraiture. This exhibition is the first ever world tour of some of the best artworks from the National Portrait Gallery in London since its founding over 160 years ago. There were three portraits that I like best.%u3000%u3000My favorite portrait was Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Elizabeth ruled longer than any other British monarch. The light artist, Chris Levine, was interested in it, so he drew a portrait of Queen Elizabeth. He focused on Queen Elizabeth%u2019s coronation clothes %u2013 The Crimson Surcoat and the Robe of State. She wore an Imperial State Crown.%u3000%u3000My second favorite portrait was of Charles Dickens. He was the most famous writer of his age. I read one of his books, %u201cOliver Twist,%u201d and was deeply moved by the kindness of the main character %u2013 Oliver. In the portrait, he was looking into the distance in an astonishing and elegant outfit.%u3000%u3000My third favorite portrait was of William Shakespeare. He was a great writer, too. I read his play, %u201cRomeo and Juliet.%u201d It was excellent. This is the only portrait of Shakespeare and it has become an icon in its own right.%u3000%u3000When I looked at the portraits, I saw not only the people, but also the stories and great artworks of history. Every portrait tells a wonderful and colorful story. Different people from different ages have the same steely eyes. I was deeply moved and am anxious to become successful and beneficial to society, like them!
